A child and four more people executed in Iran

On August 19, 2008 Iran hanged Reza Hejazi a 20 years old who convicted of a murder due to his confession under torture when he was 15 years old, all in violation of international Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Due to his lawyer request, judicial authorities agreed to delay execution to give time to lawyer for negotiation with victim's family but they went ahead and hanged him in absence of his family and lawyer.

Article 37 of Convention on the Rights of the Child says "No child shall be subjected to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Neither capital punishment nor life imprisonment without possibility of release shall be imposed for offences committed by persons below eighteen years of age".

International community should question Islamic Iran's intentions while they are signatory of Convention on the Rights of the Child but they behave in total denial and in disgusting manner they punish, torture and execute children.

Also four more people have hanged in Iran on the same day. So far it's about 200 executions carried out so far this year.
