Behnam Zare was hanged in Iran

On 26 August 2008, Behnam Zare was hanged in Iran. He was convicted of a murder that took place in 2005 when he was just 15 years old. They hanged him all in violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) which Iran happens to be a signatory.

All efforts have done by different human rights defenders and groups couldn't change authorities mindset and they carried out the execution without notifying his lawyer or parents prior to execution which according to laws in Iran it's required to inform parents or lawyer. It shows that this regime even doesn't care to laws that implemented by themselves.

Just a week ago another juvenile offender, Reza Hejazi was hanged in Iran.

Iran has executed at least 37 juvenile offenders since 1990, including eight in 2007. So far this year at least 227 people have been executed in Iran, including six juvenile offenders. At the meantime there are about 140 juvenile offenders are in death row in Iran.
